An Original Art Series by Amy Yosmali
Like most people I have an active mind, and a busy life. But unlike most people I sometimes find it difficult to slow my brain down enough for it to take the exit ramp to sleepy town.
Letting my brain continue in the fast lane of thinking, can keep me up almost the entire night, and often adds to my stress as I keep coming up with “more” things to add to my “To Do List” or to be concerned about.
After many years of trying different solutions, I have found that what works best for me is to watch a TV show that requires little to no thinking… mindless enough that my brain gets distracted enough to slow down and catch that exit to sleepy town.
My husband and I have over the years have come to refer to this brain distraction as our “Happy Place”. Probably the most infamous of our “Happy Place” TV viewing was the entire Miami Vice TV Series. It was such a happy place, that I created an entire series of paintings a few years ago called “Miami”. And although most of the paintings from that series have long ago been sold, most are still view-able online and available as prints.
I had so much fun opening up a more personal side of myself with my “Fat Girl Thin” series, I felt that it would be fun to share my more humorous side as well.
As part of the 30 Paintings in 30 Day Challenge, the “Happy Place” series is a tribute to some of my favorite TV shows that have served as my “Happy Place” over the years. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!
Love the subject of your challenge… TV also clears my head!!!! great start!!!
Thank you Carol 🙂 I look forward to following your paintings as well!
