Painting 15 of 30 – September 2014, 30 Paintings 30 Days Challenge
It is great to be on a regimented diet and exercise routine, but it is also very easy to feel “burned out” and give up. I decided that they only way I could be disciplined enough to keep up the hard work is if I granted myself permission to take one night (or meal) off approximately every 2 weeks. Of course this doesn’t mean I stuff my face with every sinful food known to man, it just means that I can indulge within healthy reason (and portion). It also means that I need to exercise a great deal of discipline to ensure that I immediately return to my daily health routine afterwards. I generally reserve these occasions for things such as a rare night we get a babysitter and my husband and I can go out for a date night or meet up with friends, or for special holidays and events. I do find that I have become pretty particular about the why and for what I will make my allowance for. It truly needs to be for something special, out of the ordinary, and for food worth splurging on. I almost think of it as a wish… so why waste it? This painting represents when criteria of hard work and discipline are met, permission is granted to enjoy.
